meet the maker-

A big reason we love having a brick and mortar shop is being able to highlight makers that are both local and from all across the globe. These makers and artists create beautiful items for our homes; showcasing a level of artistry and craftsmanship that you can't find in your usual large box stores. And most often- they create their products with sustainability and our environment in mind which is super important to us.

meet ahmee ceramics

We first came across their work in a restaurant, and knew immediately we needed to have their ceramics in the shop.

Ahmee Ceramics is a creative collaboration between Amee Hussey and Magaly Del Castillo. After a decade of friendship formed while working as a chef and bartender at a high level restaurant in Mystic, Connecticut, they decided to utilize their shared background in the arts to partner in creating a line of ceramics.

Their story goes back to their roots. Amee was born in South Korea and was adopted at 18 months by a wonderful family in Massachusetts. Magaly immigrated from Peru at the age of 14 to Miami. Their diverse cultural backgrounds and love of travel is ever present in the food they cook, the drinks they make, and the inspiration for the pieces they create.

Amee is self-taught and continues to learn with every pound of clay that is touched. All of the ceramic pieces are either formed by hand or on the wheel. They are a reflection of their shared identities.

Passionate about design and business, Magaly utilizes the creative community of women in the area to grow Ahmee Ceramics while cultivating a brand identity that celebrates diversity and inclusion.

Each ceramic piece is handmade and one of a kind. Subtle variations in color, finish, shape and size are part of the unique beauty of the individual pieces. We try to ensure accurate descriptions and photographs, however each item will have its own distinct characteristics. Please contact us with any questions regarding a specific piece.
