HOW TO NAIL MID-CENTURY MODERN DESIGN

From the tapered furniture legs to the signature Eames Chair- there are so many characteristics of mid-century modern design. The tricky part is putting it all together to make a cohesive, modernized space. Some aspects on mid-century design are best left to the history books…

So in this post we are going to go over some of our tried and true methods for creating the perfect mid-century modern space without dating your home.

First Up- Color! Mid-Century Modern design has tons of pops of color in the space. We personally love to bring in color with throw pillows and fun artwork. Blues, reds, greens are great to introduce. The key is to keep things tonal so that it doesn’t get overwhelming or too busy. Using varing tones of blue throughout the room in different ways is a great way to achieve this.

You already know. PLANTS! Introduce a ton of plants into your space to bring in some warmth and great earth tones. Our favorites? Figs, Audrey Ficus, Ferns, ZZ Plant, Snake and Ponytail Palms.

Abstract and graphic wall art is a small but powerful way to bring some MCM flair into your space. Unique furniture is a must when pulling together a mid-century style room. In the photograph above notice the unique shape of the coffee table- paying homage to the Saarinen “tulip table”. You want to have that one-of-a-kind feeling in your space-shopping vintage is always a great way to bring in unique furniture and decor that is true to the era.

We hope this helps and if you have any questions feel free to send us a message!
